Ren Hann's Homestay @ 06:13
Close of halfway of the trip, we got a chance to experience
staying in a Japanese home for a day. Together with Gabriel and Kristopher,
the three of us would be staying with a Japanese family and experience a day in
the life of a local.
At first, I was unsure of what to expect for the homestay;
where would we be going and what would we be doing and how would our hosts
expect of us? I kept these questions at heart as we met our to be hosts for the
first time at the school.
One of our host, Mr Sakai, a senior lecturer from CIS welcomed
us and brought us back to his house after a short trip. There we were greeted
by his wife, who helped us settle into our new home.
After leaving the luggages, our hosts brought us to the
Inubosaki Lighthouse, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Choshi. We
managed to climb to the top to take in the breathtaking scenery.

We then visited a local buddhist temple and each took an
“omikuji” or written fortune. After that we went for a round at a local batting
center.
After all that activity we went for sushi dinner with our
hosts. The restaurant which we dined had a bullet train deliver our food, it
was very entertaining to watch!
After a fun day, we then returned to the house. We played cards
and chatted with the residents at night.

The next day, we visited a soy sauce factory in the morning and
returned back for lunch. For lunch, we had somen which we helped in preparing.
After that, we went for a local play and entertainment at a nearby hot spring
resort.
Overall, I had an extremely fun time during the homestay and
found that it an eye-opening experience. The hosts have been very accommodating
and understanding, they have shown us their daily lives and I am very grateful
to have met them.
